Reading and resources for young people

Curated guides, articles, and external links to support you

We've gathered resources to help you make sense of what you're feeling and find your footing. Some offer tools for working through eco-anxiety and climate grief. Some connect you with communities of young people who get it. All have been chosen with young people in mind.

Want to get more involved?

A lot of our young members didn't come to CPA looking to contribute. They came looking for support, and found that being able to support others was part of how they found relief. These are some of the opportunities membership offers.

Student and Young Members' group

A dedicated community within CPA where students and young people at CPA connect, organise, and support each other. It's intergenerational, justice-focused, and shaped by members.

Intergenerational Exchange Programme

Rather than a formal mentoring programme, this is about mutual exchange between young and older CPA members. Share perspectives, experiences, questions, and hopes to build more meaningful relationships within CPA.

Events and Training for Members

Member-only sessions including skill-building, reflective spaces, a research group and opportunities to get involved in running events.

Supporting others

If you've been supported by CPA and want to pay it forward, there are pathways into facilitation, peer support, and community-building. We'll help you find your footing.

Our offerings for young people are led by CPA Youth Coordinators Ronke Ayoola, Saleh Mohamed and Gareth Morgan. They are joined by members of our Youth Support Team and our active Student and Young Members' Group who support the development of these offerings.

Testimonials

In their own words

"Really appreciate the easy and broad access to opportunities, resources and networks - thank you!"

Young member

I loved the mixture of sharing and exercises. Felt really connected which is impressive given we’re on Zoom

Youth Support Space participant

"I like the openness of the space not only in terms of being a safe space, or a courageous space, to share what I feel but also with the activities to facilitate expressions of these feelings such as music, journals, movements etc."

Youth Support Space participant

"Thank you so much for facilitating this space. It is very deeply appreciated and has nourished a space for processing the tucked-away pain of traumatic experiences from different points of my climate activism journey, as well as nurtured a sense of social connection to comrades and fellow human beings; from strangers to friends."

Retreat participant

“I felt like I was listened to and encouraged to express my feelings, regardless of what they were”

Support Space for Young Adults participant

"It was a good balance of information, practical tools, advice & reflection/sharing space. I liked having the wellbeing exercises to do in the session, as I often struggle to get myself to do them on my own, and to have someone guide with that."

Deep Resilience for a World in Crisis workshop participant

"I'm extremely grateful for the weekend. This..held space for grief and healing is exactly what is needed in activism, and I wish for a world where everyone has access to beautiful support like this. Thank you for a wonderful and restorative experience."
